Teachers Workshop

Here are some sculptures that we have made using hanging, balancing, weaving, contrasting colours and found objects. Can you tell which is which.

During the teachers workshop we collected objects and arranged them in different ways to make our sculptures. Some of the ideas were thought of beforehand, like this 2D sculpture showing a flame, and others were made as the objects were put together, using different methods such as hanging, balancing, using contrasting colours, using all sorts of found objects not just nature and weaving. The list of possibilities for 2 and 3 dimensional sculptures really is endless.

Remember that your sculptures could be made as big or as small as you like.

Experiment and play with different ideas and materials. Do not worry if your sculpture does not work first time round, think about what you can change and how to overcome problems. Discus ideas with friends and try out things even if you are not sure it will work.

Art in the Park - Sculpture using Nature.

Here in Levenshulme, Manchester, artist Rachel Ramchurn has been working with local teachers to encourage young people to make sculpture using nature in nearby Highfield Park and their own school grounds. This site is intended for teachers and pupils to upload their pictures and tell us what they have been up to.

The Friends of Fallowfield Loop have been funded by the National Lottery through Awards for All for Artist Rachel Ramchurn to create The Fallowfield Loop Sculpture Project - a series of public sculptures for the Fallowfield Loop in Levenshulme. These Sculptures will be installed at the beginning of May 2009.
